About Us

We are casting a wide net across the anglophone, francophonie, castellano and lusofonia worlds to connect the world's education systems through environmental science. We value conscientiousness of the environment and autonomy in how to act. Our hope is that by publishing stories, research and reports while critically reviewing the sources and broader implications, we can give a world-leading environmental education - for free!

Our Mission: Inspire and Transform Environmental Science Education

We aim to give everyone an environmental science education suited to them.

We recognize that quality education can and must be offered to every learner on the planet; and of all the people who have begun this work - none have adequately provided environmental education from the ground-up. So we are taking on the responsibility, starting with environmental science.

Enviro School endeavors to make learners active in the process of knowledge creation, validation, real-world problem-solving and place-making.

The Enviro School Principles of Learning

This place of learning aims to be secular, nonpartisan and devoid of 3rd party interests. Enviro school encourages site visitors to independently audit us, contact us with questions, volunteer as fact-checkers and bring conflicting information to the attention of site administrators. We believe this commitment to factuality, openness and willingness to change makes us stronger and a more trustworthy place of learning for all. We hope our contribution to learning is sufficient to improve human decision-making on a global scale.

Our principles for learning are four-fold:

  1. Be a part of the Solution. Enviro School can be part of the solution that our world so desperately needs. We shall organize our work to continue to publish and promote only the research, knowledge and exercises that help in the global effort to abate climatic and environmental damage. And we will do so in a way that personalizes each users' learning experience to best serve and empower them to become real-world problem solvers. We challenge ourselves to offer as many opportunities as possible for our site's visitors, users and learners to get involved productively as well.

  2. People over Profit. The precept of Enviro School is to serve people, not sell education or treat this platform as a product. Our community of learners can expect to garner knowledge and perspective that exposes profiteering and unsustainable businesses while building up a repertoire of scalable solutions that focuses on the prosperity of all stakeholders. Furthermore, Enviro School does not pursue partnerships, give endorsements or accept sponsorships that will detract from or otherwise adversely affect the quality of education it offers. Plus, we will always be free.

  3. Equilibrium is the Goal. Complex systems (i.e. oceans and the atmosphere) seek equilibrium as their goal. Likewise, Enviro School aims to educate a generation focused on equilibrium as a target for the continued survival of Earth's environments, ecosystems, people, economies and nations. This is opposed to a mindset of uncontrolled economic growth, and closely aligned with economic theories like doughnut economics and stakeholder capitalism.

  4. Lifelong Learning. We believe that learning is needed through all stages of life. Learning is a vital process for life to exist, so we encourage our community to uphold their curiosity and motivation to learn, from birth into old-age. Enviro School makes learners active in the process of knowledge creation and validation by giving the tools to observe, experiment, report findings and draw conclusions; plus, understand scholarly peer-review, replication, thinking critically vs skeptically and sources. The process of place-making involves creating a community around a human environment - and we hope you find the tools to create a community of learners wherever your place may be.
