Inspired by Dr. Jonathan Foley's article on medium, Enviro School has compiled 3 compelling graphs (and their stories) that best depict how and why our global climate is changing. More on their stories and critiques by scientists can be found by clicking on each image.

The notorious Northern Hemisphere (NH) "Hockey Stick Graph" (left) shows historical temperature changes over the past 1000 years. The temperature trend is in dark blue, smoothed to 40-year averages, with light blue regions showing the range of uncertainty. The uncertainties are reduced after 1600 C.E. since skillful reconstruction of NH mean annual surface temperatures were possible through proxy evidence at this time. An overall cooling pattern is shown until the early 1900s
